According to Polina's official website (www.polina.biz), this song had been selected to represent Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 1986. Nevertheless, ERT decided to withdraw after they realised
...
that the contest would take place on Saturday before Easter (!?). It's said that the archbishop of the Greek Church Seraphim threatened the song and the singer with excommunication in the case of participation (!).
Greece was drawn 17th in the running order.
What's your opinion about the song? Could it have a good result in that contest?
Our life is lost in the night
Throw the feelings on the rails
You are gone like a train
Motivated by the fate
Leave behind all sins and regrets
All those "I love you" and "I'll miss you"
I'll be waiting
The train of the fate is leaving
Wagon-lit, you travel with me, wagon-lit
Wagon-lit, without return
Wagon-lit, our love is leaving, wagon-lit
Wagon-lit, without return
Stop all these excuses
The bold ones have never been blessed
The adventures hurt
The routine is your station
Don't think baby, let's go
I'm waiting for you
The train of the fate is leaving
Wagon-lit, you travel with me, wagon-lit
Wagon-lit, without return
Wagon-lit, our love is leaving, wagon-lit
Wagon-lit, without return
The time is now
So, let's go...
