ituated on the banks of the Cross River and about 40 miles north west of Calabar.
The village had been previously occupied by forces of the secessionist state of Biafra. In the battle which led to its recapture, Ediba was almost completely ruined.

"After the liberation of Ediba, the villagers joined in the celebration with Federal troops. They had been hiding in the surrounding jungles during the rebel occupation".
