ti-phased, collaborative musical recording and documentation project.
For the first season, the project initiators, Norient and Sound Development, invited three promising artists (Islam Chipsy, Yao Bobby, and Salome MC) to choose collaborators (Aïsha Devi, Edgar Sekloka, and Shing02, respectively) with whom they later spent a week in the studio. These recording weeks took place in Honolulu, Lomé, and Cairo between summer and fall of 2015. Local writers, photographers, and filmmakers, who witnessed the creative processes between artists from different musical networks, documented them. Their essays, portraits, interviews, images, documentary films, music clips, and the music itself give insight into musical production strategies and processes in today’s globally connected, culturally interwoven, and technologically upgraded times.
