From April 2004, the original concept for Dark Sector found Hayden Tenno, a key operative for the Lotus Rebellion, in the far reaches of space infiltrating a Grineer intelligence base. The first footage ever seen for the next-gen console systems at the time was heralded by many as an exciting new direction in action gaming. However, soon after, publisher involvement changed the direction of the game by altering the setting to Earth and bringing it back to real-day timing and scenarios as seen in the shipped game in 2008.
