tta artist David Lloyd talks about his artistic approach to V for Vendetta the comic book, its place in history, and of course the movie, and his thoughts on the merits of the movie, as well as his disagreement with Alan Moore on the movie, and also on the idea of the comic book movie adaptation as a concept.
Yes, British comic book artist David Lloyd, an artist known for his wildly varying art styles discusses the creation of V for Vendetta, as well as the movie adaptation, and even the concept of the adaptation - how does he feel about others taking his work and adapting it? You might be surprised, especially if you only listen to Alan Moore, who absolutely hates the idea of an adaptation of comics, certainly hates all adaptations of his own comic work - but David Lloyd tells us that there was a time when writer Alan Moore actually WANTED adaptations of their British comics in 1984, both he and his artist David Lloyd were 'keen' as the Brits say, to see their work adapted into a feature movie or even a TV series!
Yes, it's true - the V for Vendetta comic book might have been adapted into film WAY earlier than we all thought - the famously anti-Hollywood Alan Moore actually once was thrilled about the idea of his work being adapted into a movie! Yes, David Lloyd confirms that V for Vendetta writer Alan Moore did want Hollywood film or TV adaptations of his work! It's an amazing revelation, as Moore's current position is that comics should NEVER be adapted into a film or TV series. But for Lloyd, it's an issue of creative freedom, as well as respect for the original British comics the adaptations spring from.
