Prompted by the recent loan by the French Republic to the Metropolitan Museum of the fragmentary marble statue Young Archer that many scholars attribute to Michelangelo, this symposium will provide occasion to reflect on the sculpture and the confluence of dramatic forces that shaped Renaissance Florence.
