The original winch which was used by local fishermen had become buried in the sand, and was recovered 24 years ago Fonce Byrne, Joe Kavanagh and Jack Leary. A small memorial stone was erected by Ned and Joe Kavanagh with my help as a permeant reminder to those who visit the beach.
