TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations) A social entrepreneur and author, Robyn is co-founder and Managing Director of OneLeap, an online platform that democratizes access to attention. Users pay a fee to get their short pitch directly in front of busy recipients -- potential employers, investors and clients. Robyn is also Chair and Co-Founder of Mothers for All, Botswana's only national non-profit. Backed by Barclays Bank and the EU and featured in Oprah's magazine, Mothers for All teaches entrepreneurship skills to AIDS orphan caregivers. Her first book, Twenty Chickens for a Saddle, is a bestselling memoir about growing up in Botswana against the AIDS epidemic. She is currently writing her second book, Big Like Coca-Cola, the true story of a group of maximum security prisoners who adopted AIDS orphans. She is an Ambassador for the Access to Medicine Index, an adviser or trustee to several international development charities and social enterprises and a mentor at Skoll's Emerge Social Venture Lab. She has worked for BP, the FT and Investec. A Gates Cambridge Scholar, she has a BSc Bioinformatics and an MPhil Bioscience Enterprise Distinction.
