This is a brilliant example of the importance of Lola Chécain to the vocal sound of O.K. Jazz. Ntesa Dalienst told us you can have a brilliant lead voice, without a good backing singer, you got nothin
...
g. Dalienst loved singing with Wuta Mayi for that reason. Sam Mangwana never sounded better than when he was backed by Lola Chécain, according to Ntesa, and I tend to agree with him.
In this song, we hear Lola Chécain brilliantly backing Youlou Mabiala in the first part of the song. Then, as Youlou takes the solo, the chorus is done by Michèl Boyibanda with Lola Chécain. Armando Brazzos, who had just rejoined the orchestra at the time, played the rhythm guitar.
Later on in the song, we hear Franco alternating solo guitar with the composer of this song, Mose Fanfan. Fanfan has his own page on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/MOSESENGO1
Although the first pic is a couple of years older than the song and the second photo was taken a few years later than the recording of the song, they may be the correct vocal combinations. May be, because I can't be sure about the second pic. But my guess is that these are (fltr) Boyibanda, Youlou, Lola.
