granite counters, and a wainscot back splash. The library features a brick wood-burning fireplace, while the upgraded boiler keeps the home effortlessly warm. Extra large floor to ceiling windows with 19th century glass have storm inserts. The dining room features 19th century top-nailed maple and a cove ceiling, while both the library and parlor feature restored oak hardwood and floor-to-ceiling built ins. The grand entry staircase has also been restored and features an open concept. In all, this house boasts a half-dozen chandeliers. All 2nd floor bedrooms feature an attached bath and newer flooring. Relax next to the fireplace in the library, or the pellet stove in the enclosed pine wood porch, or the fire ring in a private wooded backyard. The landscaped garden features mature rose and peony bushes, irises, and herbs while various fruit trees, raspberry and blueberry bushes dot the property. Choose a book from any of the built ins, and enjoy a luxurious bath in the claw foot tub. The tank less water heater ensures you will never run out of hot water! There are 3 driveways and ample parking for any vehicle, RV or boat. The 2+ car garage is fully insulated, and features built-in workbenches and additional storage space in the loft. The in-law suite is perfect for the older kids or extended family and was previously rented, covering most of the mortgage! This updated home is solid as a rock as it sits on a newer 29 year old foundation. This house is turn-key, and because it is for sale by owner the sale can be expedited at the buyers request.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE HOME
This historically significant 1872 Victorian Italianate framed home was the first Parsonage built in the state of Minnesota. The house is mentioned in "The History of Wabasha County", has its own Wikipedia page and its photos are on file with the Library of Congress. Due to the construction of the new Mississippi River bridge in 1987, it was moved to its current location, an affluent semi-rural neighborhood across from the Coffee Mill Ski Hill, County Fairgrounds, and near the golf Course. It sits on nearly an acre with a landscaped garden, mature rose bushes and concrete benches. Much of the property is wooded, and features the largest cottonwood tree in the state (uncertified). This home is the former Cottonwood Inn Bed & Breakfast, and is cherished by locals.
