For she is hated by her comrades for her association with Ramesh, and so she hates Ramesh. As a protest against this beating, the workers, encouraged by the sympathetic English Doctor Thomas, go on strike. Ramesh does not know what to do. He is torn between his love and his duty. At last he meets Ganga and in desperation proposes to her that they should both run away-to be alone with their love. But Ganga refuses to forsake her comrades. Midnight of a fateful day. Ganga is leading a torch-light procession of the workers heading for the Burra Sahebs bungalow. And on the steps of that bungalow stands Ramesh with a revolver in his hand. Thus lovers meet on the field of battle ! Ramesh has a surprise in stone for the Saheb. And the Saheb has a bullet in his rifle for -Ganga !
