The visit occured half-way through President Daddah's 6-day State Visit.
The Sultan was the President-General of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Nigeria and one of the world's Moslem leaders. President Daddah was himself an Islamic scholar.
At the Sultan's palace, the visitors were entertained by a traditional durbar featuring camelmen, dancers, singers, and drummers.
The Sultan presented the Mauritanian leader with three books.
