Space Law, by Michelle Hanlon, Associate Director of the Air and Space Law Program at the University of Mississippi School of Law. The media and many commercial space companies seek to characterize o

uter space as a lawless frontier. But there are, in fact, laws that apply in space. The foundations of space law are grounded in general international law and custom; an enduring framework for the regulation of all space activity was established by the Outer Space Treaty, which opened for signature in 1967.
Michelle is also the Co-Founder of For All Moonkind, the only organization in the Universe focused on preserving human history in space, starting with Neil Armstrong's bootprint which currently is not protected or even recognized by any international custom, agreement or regulation. Michelle presents an introduction to space law and discusses the challenges new space technologies and missions present to the existing space law regime.
