ng Awit ng Pilipinas ang itinugtog sa kanyang karangalan bilang Pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas samantalang kanyang pinamumunuan ang pagtatapos ng mga kadete ng Philippine Military Academy "Hinirang" Class of 1987 kaalinsabay ng pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Sandatahang Lakas noong Marso ng 1987. Kabilang sa seremonyang ito ay sina noo'y Heneral Fidel Valdez Ramos, punong ng kalupunan ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas (kalauna'y naging Pangulo), at noo'y Pangalawang Pangulo Salvador "Doy" Laurel.
In remembering the 11th death anniversary of former President Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino on this day, 1st of August, three renditions of the National Anthem of the Philippines were played in her honour as President of the Republic of the Philippines while she led the commencement exercises of the Philippine Military Academy "Hinirang" Class of 1987 coinciding with the Armed Forces Day in March of 1987. Joining in this ceremony were then-General Fidel Valdez Ramos, chief-of-staff of the AFP (later would become President), and then former Vice-President Salvador "Doy" Laurel.
