Eco (glasses) stands by the entrance when Giovanni and his wife, Lidia (Jeanne Moreau), arrive at Bompiani publishing house (where Eco was a well-known editor in real life). While Giovanni discusses his book, we can see Eco shaking hands with Lidia, and then walking past her without acknowledging her seconds later. Lidia then leaves the party to wander the streets of Milan.
