U-S Marines in Zegra, Kosovo came under fire from a building adjacent to their checkpoint on Thursday.
One gunman was killed and three wounded in the exchange of fire.
...
There were no casualties amongst the Marines.
The building was apparently a bar frequented by locals, although the gunmen so far have not been associated with either the K-L-A or the Serbs.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"Yesterday there were a few people down at a bar across the street there. They started firing at the Marines and the Marines fired back, head wounded two of them and probably killed one of them. They have two with head shots and the other got shot in the hand. We went down there and peacefully told them to put down their weapons. They put their weapons down and then they took off, so we went and got them."
SUPER CAPTION: Anthony Anamero, U.S Marine
Officials say about a half-dozen assailants were involved - wearing civilian clothes and armed with A-K-47's.
U-S Marines were involved in a standoff with about 1-hundred armed Kosovo Liberation Army members last week in the same town.
That fracas ended with the Kosovo rebels being forcibly disarmed.
