The superb lyrebird (Menura novaehollandiae) is considered one of the most amazing and fanciest bird in the world.
In a clear area, the males will perform a courtship display on the forest floor. The

male lyrebirds shake their tail feathers, and sometimes fan them over their heads, showing their impressive tail plumes and performing magic displays to attract female lyrebirds.
The dance is accompanied by songs borrowed from other birds: the lyrebird is an excellent mimic. It is one of the best songbird in the world with an incredibly wide vocal range and song repertoire. In zoos and in close proximity to humans, lyrebirds can even learn to mimic chainsaws and camera shutter noises (see the BBC Wildlife video with David Attenborough for example). One of the most surprising sound that can be commonly heard is reminiscent of a laser gun.
In the wild (like the lyrebird on this video), lyrebirds mainly mimic sounds from other species of birds that they have heard in the forest, but can also mimic sounds that they have only heard from other lyre birds !
This is a new, unseen footage taken near Ganguddy (sometimes called Dunns swamp) in New South Wales, Australia.
