The Russian Airborne Troops and Serbian Special Land Forces joined together to conduct ‘counter-terrorism’ drills at the Nikinci range in Vojvodina province, Friday. The SREM-2014 exercises saw soldiers practicing to co-operate during model hostage-rescue situations. During the training airborne units supplied aerial reconnaissance using remotely piloted Granat-1 aircraft, while Serbian units directed a tactical landing from Mi-8/17 helicopters.
Quad bikes, BOV M-86 personnel carriers and BMD M1981/1 fighting vehicles were used during the exercises. The event marked the first joint ‘counter-terrorist’ drills held between Russia and Serbia on Serbian territory.
