fooled by the fake American accents - this is Australian radio drama - adapted from the Elaine Carrington soapie.
When World War 2 resulted in the termination of imported acetate recordings of US programs it was decided to take the adaption course. The war years in the US series were conveniently skipped and overnight the characters were five years older. Child actor Ray Hartley (Ashley in 'Life with Dexter') played a part where his character went upstairs never to return. Not that five years made much difference to the storyline, which moved with Elaine Carrington's snail-paced action.
There were 3,290 episodes broadcast between 1946 and 1965.
