This is the iconic interview of Charles Manson by Penny Daniels at San Quentin Prison in 1989. At the time, Penny was an anchor for the nationally syndicated Inside Report show, which only lasted for
...
about a year.
At this time, Charles Manson was already 53, often highly-charged and sometimes quite shocking (as expected). Manson spent much of his time behind bard making dolls, bugs and spiders out of string to help pass the time and keep himself content.
While he was quite intimidating by his demeanor and actions, he was only 5’2. Although he spent a good part of his youth in a reformatory, his first serious act was in February of 1952, where he was caught raping a young boy. Over the years, he would build up several other charges for sexual misconduct before he was sent to a maximum security reformatory. Manson spent a good part of his life behind bars for just about every offense that you can imagine.
Manson was born in 1934 and died behind bars in November 2017.
