had to be done. "I've seen a lot of shows and this is the most inspirational body of work I have ever seen," says Deren. "I wanted to do a portrait of him the same way he did portraits of his friends and people he was inspired by like Warhol and Lichtenstein." Madsteez went on to meet with Hopper, have a photo shoot, and create his most intricate painting to date. "It took 6 months, but it was well worth it," says Deren. The 96" X 48" painting has yet to be seen by the public and will be on display at his Chelsea art show.
