Henry Wales was very involved in the community. He was a school trustee, a magistrate for the Mowat and Whitney governments and active in the Liberal Party. He and his wife Elizabeth had six children and the house, known as Maple Villa, remained in the Wales family for more than 70 years. An early bake oven and smokehouse still remain at the rear of the building.
