ily wedding, Motilall Marhé, the author of Sarmani Byakaran (Surinamese Bhojpuri Grammar), arranged to meet Dr. Peggy Mohan, the expert on Trinidad Bhojpuri and author of 'Trinidad Bhojpuri: A Morphological Study'. This was Mohan's doctoral thesis on the Trinidad Bhojpuri language. Marhé dedicated his life's work to define the Bhojpuri of Suriname which, through his work and publication of his Byakaran, identified it as Sarnami.
Marhé and Mohan, during their first ever meeting, discuss the different vernaculars of Caribbean Hindustani that exist from their respective countries of birth.
Let's listen as they discuss the difference and similarities between Sarnami and Trinidad Bhojpuri as well as the current state of these languages of the diaspora and the possibilities of their future.
