, Feinstein says, it's time for change. "When you have someone walking in and slaying, in the most brutal way, 6-year-olds, something is really wrong," Feinstein said. She outlined a variety of measures she plans to introduce in the new Congress, including stricter background checks and gun registrations. Feinstein also says she wants the Federal Firearms Act to include weapons that are "grandfathered" in to the new laws.

Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) said he believed Feinstein's desired ban on assault weapons wouldn't work. "We had the assault weapons ban from 1994 to 2004 and the conclusion was, it did not change crime," he said. He vowed to oppose an assault weapons ban because it "didn't work then and doesn't work now."
