The Battle of Stalingrad was the largest land battle in World War II. It was also the longest - an epic seven month campaign lasting from the 21st of July 1942 to the 2nd of February 1943. The fightin

g for the city has become infamous for its intensity, yet many have forgotten that the battle started outside of the city in July 1942 as Fall Blau (Case Blue) was reaching its zenith. The German 6th Army, commanded by Paulus, crashed into Red Army forces defending at the Great Bend of the Don River. From this moment onwards, both sides were in almost continuous battle until the bitter end. In this series, we will explore the battle from start to finish, going into more detail than any documentary on the subject has ever done before. This is BATTLESTORM!

This is not a sponsored video. I'm only recommending the following books/authors because I think they're great for any WW2 enthusiast.
An absolute must-read is Glantz & House's "Stalingrad" book, without which this series would simply not be possible. Serious enthusiasts should pick up their five book, four part "Stalingrad Trilogy". You can find their books at major book retailers.
You may also be interested in the amazing WW2 books produced by Jason D. Mark, such as his detailed unit histories on the 24th Panzer Division or the Croatian Legion. His website is here https://www.leapinghorseman.com/

ABOUT TIK
History isn’t as boring as some people think, and my goal is to get people talking about it. I also want to dispel the myths and distortions that ruin our perception of the past by asking a simple question - “But is this really the case?”
I have a 2:1 Degree in History and a passion for early 20th Century conflicts (mainly WW2). I’m therefore approaching this like I would an academic essay. Lots of sources, quotes, references and so on. Only the truth will do.
This video is discussing events or concepts that are academic, educational and historical in nature. This video is for informational purposes and was created so we may better understand the past and learn from the mistakes others have made.

All of the music in this video is my original work, with one exception - the Croatian National Anthem track "Lijepa naša domovino", composed in 1878, and performed by the US Navy Band, is not mine. However, because it is officially a Public Domain anthem in Croatia, was performed by employees of the US government, and it is well over 100 years after the death of the author, for these reasons it legally is in the Public Domain and thus not subject to copyright.
