stage for Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents is Dulcé Sloan, a comic who is no stranger to the network thanks to her stint as a Daily Show correspondent. Sloan’s work has taken her all across the country, so her new special starts by detailing everything wrong with New York City, then proceeding to share why you’re no better off in Los Angeles—or any city in America, for that matter. We spoke with the comedian a few days after the special’s premiere to explore how her Southern, suburban upbringing (and her musically gifted uncle) helped shape her worldview and gave her a personal understanding of the immigration crisis the country is going through.
