Animated Series from Fox Kids in the 1990s ! See the classic Marvel cartoon creators as they watch it for the first time as Honest Trailers skewers their classic 1990s cartoon. "Previously, on X-Men!" One of the great examples of a comic adaptation and possibly my favorite animated series. 1990s forever! Long live Fox Kids! Long live Honest Trailers! And Marvel!
The classic X-Men The Animated Series was a dream team of talent. The staff was filled with talented writers and animators, some of which knew the comic books, and some did not. The ones that did not delivered top notch animated action and well-written dramatic stories to the cartoon, and the ones that WERE familiar with the Marvel comic book were fantastic guardrails, making sure the cartoon was faithful to the comic book, and that the animation reflected the visual representation of the comic book version of the characters.
Yes the 1990s were a golden age for Marvel cartoon fans, and the X-Men TAS was a key component of that age. When it comes to the 1990s, most people give praise to Batman TAS or Spider-Man TAS, but often X-Men The Animated Series is overlooked, and it's just recently that it's been picking up notoriety, in large part to the recent book on the series, "Previously on X-Men".
This was also a golden age for Fox Kids, as all three of these animated series were on that network, and that led the fledgling Fox Kids to be #1 in ratings. Yes, NBC, ABC, and CBS all had bigger budgets, but Fox Kids truly built it's schedule with care and talent. The result was a slate of runaway hits like Spider-Man TAS, Batman TAS, The Tick, and of course - X-Men The Animated Series. I still can't believe all of those shows (and much more) were on Fox Kids, one network, all at once. Especially huge for Marvel, which hadn't had a cartoon series on the air in a decade!
Yes re-live the 1990s in all their glory, all of their Marvel animated series glory, stroll down memory lane with X-Men TAS, that old Fox Kids classic. A Marvel animated series that Honest Trailers actually respected!
A beloved 1990s Marvel cartoon, and Honest Trailers thinks so too - clearly an important adaptation in cartoon and animated history. Many say the Fox (not Kids) Dark Phoenix adaptation was better than the movie, and we at HeroJournalism concur. But good on Honest Trailers, they really knocked it out of the park with the X-Men TAS video, every fan of the Marvel cartoon I've met loves it. Even the creators of the cartoon! Thanks to Honest Trailers. And of course, X-Men the Animated Series creators, and even Fox Kids!
