Back in August of 1981, in the "Punch" section of the Birmingham News, there was a small blurb that radio station WAPI-FM, "FM 94", "A pleasure to have around"... was going to change it's format to an
...
album rock format "95 ROCK". It gave the date and time. I had an old open reel deck I used to record the event with.
This recording has segments from the last five 'beautiful' tunes played on WAPI, being edited by the sloppy 'pause' lever on the machine I was using. However the last tune, where it quickly fades (followed by a final, desperate 'blip') is unedited and as it was broadcast, as is the remainder of the recording until it fades out.
