"The Carpenters: A Christmas Portrait" (1978) was Richard and Karen Carpenter's fourth TV special and second and final one for Christmas. Many of the songs were from Spike Jones' 1956 "Xmas Spectacula
...
r," which Karen and Richard listened to as children, as were the songs on their album from that year, "Christmas Portrait."

I really wish Richard would take the good parts of these specials (plus the Carpenters' 1974 appearance on the "Perry Como Christmas Show") and put them into a retrospective on PBS, ABC, DVD, or something. From what I understand, he disliked these specials (though Karen enjoyed them), and so sadly, they may never see the light of day.
