issioner is thrilled that at least two major studios have decided to shoot part of their next movies on the mid and north island.
Commissioner Joan Miller says she can't reveal details about the productions but says the economic impact of the two films plus car commercials that will be shot in the area will have a big impact on the economy.
Doing the math, Miller says one production alone will bring in around 300 people and will be in the region for at least eight days, offering a big boost to hotels in what is normally their off season.
One of the productions will begin shooting in downtown Nanaimo next week and is operating under the code name "Nautilus." Unit publicist Ernie Malik confirmed two of the stars will be Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston and a computer animated "Godzilla."
Malik says the harbour city and Victoria will both be used for locations in a four-month production schedule in the province.
