Helmy reflected on his own experiences, recalling how he switched to studying
law after spending four years in pre-medical school."Changing majors or jobs is
not a waste of time or money," he said, before giving a remarkably personal account of the death of his father, Samir Helmy, during the assassination of Anwar Sadat. This cataclysmic event only strengthened his drive to work his way up in the Egyptian legal and business community in order to be able to instigate change.
