Soviet scrambled 20 MIG-25 and it’s been said to had missile lock on them. 2 Swedish JA-37 Viggen was scramble from the Swedish island of Gotland to escort the damaged SR-71 Blackbird and later another 2 JA-37 Viggen was scramble over Scania to give escorts over to U.K.
From the U.S. they say that the Cold War would never have ended and the Berlin Wall would never have fallen if it wasn’t for this rescue operation.
