Billy Corgan said that Joe Shanahan is responsible for the Smashing Pumpkins getting a drummer. Billy mentions how the venue was an important cultural centre in Chicago and how he was there 4-5 nights a week at one point in his life. He also mentions that he first met Chris Fabian (his future ex-wife) at a sold out Jesus and Mary Chain concert.
