ember 26, 2012). The event was organized by the Christian foundation "Artos Zois" and the Doctoral Program for Political Science and Sociology at the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration. Speakers included the bishop of Alexandroupolis, Anthimos, the priest and psychiatrist Vasilios Thermos, the theologian and advisor to the Ministry of Education, Stavros Giagazoglou, and the president of the Foundation "Artos Zois", Stavros Zoumboulakis. With this input Rassias tried to counter the attempt of the orthodox Church to link the Christian-fascist party of "Golden Dawn" to Hellenismos and "Paganism" which is the label they use to "call" ethnic religions.
About the person: Vlassis G. Rassias (1959-2019) was an ethnic Hellenic economist, historiographer, artist, poet, translator, publisher, author of over twenty-five books and a leading figure in the Re-Hellenization movement in Greece. He has transferred both Salustios‘ Peri Theon kai Kosmou and Epictetus‘ Enchiridion into modern Greek. He was the co-founder of the Supreme Council of Ethnic Hellenes (YSEE), whose General secretary he was, and the European Congress of Ethnic Religions (ECER, formerly WCER). He represented the indigenous Hellenic tradition in many TV shows, radio broadcasts, magazines and at the Parliament of the World's Religions 2018 in Toronto, Canada. In his function as the General secretary of YSEE, he had given more than 150 lectures about Hellenism in several countries. Vlassis G. Rassias was a Stoic.
"The Hellenic tradition is, like any other ethnic tradition, only accountable to itself and does not depend on what others think about it."
Vlassis G. Rassias: From a lecture that was held at the Hellenic philosophical institution "Hekatēvólos" on June 9, 2018, in Athens, Greece.
"As a genuine invention of monotheistic absolutism, nationalism expressed and expresses itself as a consistent demand for complete cultural, religious and linguistic homogeneity and unity. […]. It is not the enemies of collective freedom and autonomy (who have been the enemies of the ethnicities) that have been declared as 'enemies,' but any kind of otherness that is currently considered to be a cultural, religious, ethnic or ‹racial› pollution due to a sick collective mentality. In contrast to natural (ancient) 'ethnism', which can express its diversity / alterity in a positive way (and at the same time deeply respects the diversity / alterity of all the others who express themselves in the same way), [...] nationalism considers its […] 'race' to be more important and superior than any other, and therefore it can only define its diversity / alterity in a negative way."
Vlassis G. Rassias: Ethnos – Ethnismos – Nation-state – Nationalism. 2nd ed., Athens: Anichti Poli, 2006 [org. 1996], Greek, ISBN: 960-7748-37-9.
"The nationalist disease is the twin brother of internationalism and stands outside of the real game of history. The dipole nationalism ≠ internationalism is a construction. [Nationalism] has nothing to do with the real ethnos and the real ethnic identity, it takes advantage of people's love for their homeland, their patriotism, and fishes in muddy waters."
Vlassis G. Rassias, taken from an interview from January 2011.
