color information of the PAL systems is lost -- except maybe for PAL-M and PAL-Nc, which the Pyle 15" LCD pseudo-mulisystem HDTV displays in black & white anyway, even with a direct hookup (it normally displays all other PAL standards in full color: PAL-B, PAL-G, PAL-I, PAL-K, etc.).
"Hacked" 625-line 50 Hz NTSC video also records with perfect sync and also retains full color information, although again the Pyle cannot display it in color, because it assumes any 50 Hz video source is PAL and any 60 Hz video source is NTSC. This non-standard 625-line 50 Hz NTSC video is generated by a U.S.-spec Atari 520ST computer running a demo written for a Euro-spec PAL Atari. The U.S.-spec Atari's color generator is fixed in hardware to NTSC, but it can still change refresh and scan rates at will. Classic analog U.S.-spec TVs and monitors display 625-line 50 Hz NTSC perfectly in full beautiful color, after only a small adjustment of the V-hold knob!
The NTSC-M and all of the PAL systems were generated by my Compaq Evo N400c laptop, whose built-in composite video output can produce a highly flexible array of NTSC and PAL standards (except the Atari's "hacked" NTSC-N system).
