Dr. Mutunga's remarks were extremely relevant coming from a world renowned human rights defender as the guest of honor at a leading human rights organization's groundbreaking ceremony. The Anti-Homosexuality Bill has been criticized by the Ugandan Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights and Constitutional Law as unconstitutional, discriminatory and a threat to human rights.
In attendance at the groundbreaking ceremony were friends of FIDA Uganda, the secretariat, the board, trustees and FIDA Uganda members, most notably the former president of FIDA Uganda and current Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Honorable Rebecca Kadaga.
