Changes to Saturday School are underway as of next September. Since we completed a major school survey in the summer of 2018, we have continued to take soundings on how we can best adapt our approach to prepare boys for the best senior schools. In this context we are announcing the news that from September 2021, Year 3 and Year 4 will have a five-day week, from Monday to Friday. We must always ensure that the school week prepares boys for the progressive challenge of moving up each year and finally to senior schools - our approach to this naturally begins in Year 3. For the boys to get the best out of their first two years at Caldicott, whilst maintaining the desire to #CherishChildhood, becoming familiar with a more purposeful atmosphere and more efficient use of time during the week is required. Recognising their young age, we believe the boys need the full weekend to rest with their families. Saturday School from Year 5 upwards then gives the extra time for all the things that sets Caldicott apart and ensures the boys are given the best all-round provisions possible. This change will make transition into Year 3 easier as boys join having never experienced Saturday school before. In turn, the transition into Year 5 will be eased as they will be older, better equipped and have more of an understanding as to what a six-day week entails. This escalating experience continues with boys then weekly or full boarding from Year 6 onwards. We are confident that this will ensure the very youngest members of our community will experience childhood to the fullest, while preparing them to take on more responsibility as they progress through the school.
