Our nashville community suffered a huge loss this weekend. It's hard for me to quantify what this man was to me. JT was with me on the very first big record I ever played on. Since then, he was equal parts: Friend, Hero, Peer, Mentor, Family... He was the ultimate session man. I learned how to play country guitar by listening to him and I learned how to play on sessions by sitting next to him. In our world of insanity, JT was a constant. He was singular. Always the same, every time you saw him. I never heard a single complaint from him... He set the bar for how to carry oneself through challenges. and he never EVER did anything less than play his ass off on every single session he showed up at. If we all had 10% of what he had, the world would be better for it. A musical giant with a deadly right hand and the tone of a god. I’m gonna crank up Hillbilly Deluxe in your honor.
Love you, ol’ partner.
