Hey guys, Tony here. This Friday is our final show of The Policy Album Tour, and it will be my last show with Glitoris. It has been a wild ride the past few years, and after much deliberation, I have decided to leave the band to focus on my growing business and life commitments. So. Glitoris. Wow. What an freakin amazing ride it has been. I came up with the idea for an all-female punk band called Glitoris in 2012 after watching Julia Gillard’s misogyny speech and feeling instant waves of fury and frustration with the gender gap in Australia. After spending years playing in the industry with almost entirely men, it was time for a change. We needed to do something. It was time for Glitoris. With the aim of only ever doing one gig for the You Are Here festival as a political art installation protest band (it’s true!), Glitoris had such a strong community reaction that we did one more gig, and then one more gig, and then lots more gigs. Glitoris has since grown into an incredible band of furiously creative and brave musicians who have taken the country by storm. We’ve playing in NZ, toured with Regurgitator, written a killer album and an EP, done headline tours and received critical acclaim for our songs and performing. More importantly than achievements, Glitoris has come to represent courage, standing up for what you believe in, and the power of a small group of passionate women banding together and creating something amazing. I am immensely and tear-jerking-ly proud of the last five years and what we have done together. I am also so glad that the band will continue on without me, pushing on to greater heights in the next chapter. I can’t wait to be down the front head banging with the crowd in the future! I love and cherish my time with the incredible Keven, Malcolm and Andrew, and will always remember my time in this fucking brilliant band and our wonderful friendships we created. Love you forever Glitoris! See you guys at The Basement on Friday for Tony’s last hurrah!! Rock on. \*/ Pic by @martinollman @
