10 months ago, my brother Taylor passed away. This is the tattoo of his name, tay, that I got in order to keep him with me. My incredible friend @ruthielindsey was the first that I called, seeking guidance in an unfathomable situation that would turn out to be the most formative and humbling of my life. She cared for me with total grace in a way that only a great friend can. A few months later, Ruthie asked if I’d be interested in joining her and @milesadcox on @theunspokenpodcast, their podcast exploring why what is unsaid is often the most important thing we talk about. I shared the story of my brother, among other things (creative anxiety, creating community, my queer experience), and today it’s out in the world. I feel like an egg cracked open but I think that means that my story is worth sharing. I hope doing so motivates others to invite honest, meaningful connection in their lives in order to heal and inspire. Thank you to both of them for allowing me that.
