Well Friends I sincerely hope this is the only time I have to say something about this because I don’t really care to draw a ton of attention to an arbitrary word. Yes, I said the word shit. No I don’t think it's explicit. And no, it's not an attempt to go “mainstream”-- that ship sailed along time ago. Like many other words, it's a word I use. Much better than "crap" (which potentially might be disrespectful to the guy who played a major role in the flush toilet---RIP), better then "feces" (which is disgusting), more mature then the word "turd", "doo-doo", "dookie" and "poop". Let's be honest, in the context of this song the “oo" sound doesn’t have the same poetic delivery as the “it”----the "urd" sound is just awkward... With that said, I have a tremendous amount of respect for parents who are doing their best to raise their kids right. We are on the same team in that sense. But, you need to be truthful in what you are saying when you draw lines in the sand over something as goofy as this. At worst, the song is PG---according to the cultural status quo you claim to run from. I think it's extremely flawed thinking to believe that the only art you can engage with is G rated and "kid friendly" and by a lot of your remarks and actions that's exactly what you are saying. I have an enormous respect for the family dynamic and greatly appreciate music that seeks to make something "fun for the whole family" and don’t consider it any less of an honest art form. I also wouldn't consider using the word shit to make you more "relevant" or "edgy". I’d prefer to ignore this whole thing, but even for those who have taken issue, I still feel a sense of gratitude for you because you have supported me over the years. I hope you genuinely know I respect you and I understand if this isn’t your bag, and yes, I’d probably encourage you to tune out now. If you haven't had the chance to check it out new song up "Candy Coated Razor Blades". Link in the profile 📷 @hulaseventy
