Right before February national team camp, I injured my lower back for the second time in six months. Each injury was separate and in a different location. I really wanted to make another international assignment so I went to camp. Unfortunately, I was unable to be 100% and didn’t secure a spot on a team. When I went home, I saw a team of doctors to assess my back. It was determined I had a herniated disk and an edema on my vertebrae. Due to the injury and the extreme pain I was in, I had to make the very tough decision and pull out of all 2019 elite competitions. My doctors, family and myself felt it was best for me to take time off so my body was able to recovery fully. Making this decision was very difficult, but it was in my best interest so I had the opportunity to heal properly in order to reach the goals I have. After almost five months of doing no gymnastics and strictly focusing on recovery, I am finally back in the gym and starting to get back into the swing of things. I am continuing to train elite and look forward to competing again. I am beyond grateful for my family, friends, doctors and new coaches at NSG who have stuck by my side and helped me through this. On the road to being mentally and physically healthy! #trusttheprocess
