I wrote Simple Things (The Ocean Song ) sometime in 2013, when I quit my last job and started busking my way through the years. It’s been recorded and released 3 times - for Made Of Water, Land & Sea, and most recently for my acoustic album, Truly Acoustic 🌅 ~ I have a memory writing this song in my bedroom, at my family home on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. I was listening to Daniel Champagne and Kim Churchill, and it was one of the first times I tried writing in an alternate tuning. I wrote it based on my falling in love with moving to Byron Bay and travelling the East Coast; the busking and the beautiful people walking past, as I played outside different cafes, wondering who they were and what their lives might be like. I have SO MANY amazing memories from my early busking days. ~ When I listen back to the original version from Made Of Water, it is played so fast 😂 it blows my mind how quick I use to play my songs.
