A text message mix-up led to a new Thanksgiving tradition for Wanda Dench and Jamal Hinton. The pair met in 2016 after Dench tried to write her grandson about their holiday plans without realizing he had changed his phone number. Hinton, a teenager she had never met, got the message instead. After he jokingly asked if he could join anyway, Dench welcomed him, and they became fast friends. The pair has shared every Thanksgiving for the last six years. Dench and Hinton's story went viral, and this year, they’re inviting other new friends to join the celebration. Dench will open her Prescott, Arizona, home to guests on Airbnb for a one-night stay this month, where they’ll get to join the pair for their Thanksgiving dinner.
