Ancient rock carvings believed to be up to 2,000 years old are being exposed in northern Brazil as the country faces its worst drought in more than a century. The engravings depict "anthropomorphic figures" and are "prehistoric, or precolonial," archeologist Jaime de Santana Oliveira told Al Jazeera. They are reappearing after more than a decade along the Amazon River as waters recede. In addition to the carvings, polishing basins used by ancient inhabitants to make tools are also visible.
