Fort Myers News-Press photojournalist Andrew West spent a couple days looking for art in nature as wildflowers and other foliage lit up the watershed at CREW Marsh Trails in Immokalee, Fla., just east of Fort Myers in the southwest part of the state. Using a macro lens that allowed him to focus very close, Andrew looked mainly at the colorful Catesby’s lily. The Florida native wildflower blooms in the summer through the fall. It thrives in savannas, prairies and wet flatwoods. The stunning lily, also known as known as Tiger lily, Pine lily, Southern-red lily or Leopard lily, is threatened in the state of Florida.
