The bears of Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska have been preparing for hibernation while we humans gear up for something else – Fat Bear Week. Fat Bear Week is a March Madness-style bracket competition that pits some of Katmai’s biggest and most beloved bears against each other in the arena of public opinion. Each day, fans vote for their favorite bear. The bears with the most votes at the end of the day advance to the next round until a champion is named at week’s end.
