Pentagon officials offered a dire assessment of the damage done by the leak of highly classified documents about the war in Ukraine and U.S. spying, saying the unauthorized disclosures could cost lives.
The documents, which have appeared on social media, seem to show printouts of battlefield updates and assessments.
Opinions on the seriousness of the leaks vary, however. A senior administration official told USA TODAY that most of the documents concerning Ukraine have limited value as they're more than a month old, and battlefield conditions change daily.
