This quahog clam was likely born in 1809. He was released into the Gulf of Mexico last week by his caretakers at the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, and is believed to be the world's fourth oldest clam. Americorps member Blaine Parker dug up the 2-century-old mollusk at Florida's Alligator Point, while collecting shellfish to make chowder. Parker said the clam is hefty enough to make two servings – and has shells large enough to use as bowls to serve it in. “We were just going to eat it, but we thought about it a while and figured it was probably pretty special.
