The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol attack recommended Monday that the Justice Department bring criminal charges against Donald Trump. While nonbinding, if the DOH agrees it will be the first time a former president faces federal charges. In this case, prosecutors don't necessarily have to listen to the committee. The panel previously recommended criminal charges for contempt of Congress against four people who defied committee subpoenas.
